Statement: Mango and Turkey

  • At Mango, more than ever, we feel very close to Turkey. The entire Mango team deeply regrets the impact on the population of the succession of devastating earthquakes which have occurred since Monday morning in Turkey, and in neighbouring Syria. Turkey is a strategic territory for Mango, and one it has very close ties with.

For Mango, the health and safety of its team and of the people that make up its distribution ecosystem is always its priority, especially at moments like the current one in Turkey.

Yesterday, the company activated its safety protocols to guarantee the well-being and safety of all its employees and personnel in stores, suppliers and factories, with whom it is in permanent contract, in order to offer them all its support and assistance (financial and moral) during these difficult moments of confusion and uncertainty.

For the moment, all our employees and store personnel are in good health, except one who is in hospital. However, the company is continually monitoring the situation, while providing all its employees and their families as much support as possible.

Mango’s Social Action department, alongside its teams in Turkey, have begun to analyse the needs on the ground and has started, for example, to send clothes to the different areas affected by the earthquakes. In line with Mango’s commitment to people and their surroundings, the company has made a donation of three million Turkish lira (150,000 euros) to the Turkish Red Crescent, which is working on the ground to help those affected by this natural disaster.

At the close of 2022, Mango had approximately 70 stores in Turkey, some of them located in Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Adana, Kayseri and Trabzon, some of the provinces that have been most affected by the earthquakes. Furthermore, Mango works with 663 factories in the country, one of its biggest suppliers in the world. The company has around 1,300 employees in the country.

The entire Mango team wishes to send its sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and those affected by this tragedy.
